Donna Faye Gordon, 83, of New Philadelphia died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Union Hospital at Dover.
A daughter of the late Emmett and Gladys (Hill) Newton, Donna was born at home near Roswell, Ohio on July 25, 1926.
She attended Midvale schools then graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1944. On July 17, 1948, she married James G. "Sam" Gordon and the couple shared 51 years of marriage prior to Sam's passing on January 17, 2000.
Donna led a very active life. She was an avid volunteer and devoted much of her time to Hospice of Tuscarawas County's Browse & Buy store and to Cats N Us. When not serving as a volunteer, she spent much of her time in the company of good friends.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Ann and Michael Govanello of New Philadelphia; a grandson, Steve Govanello of Cleveland; two great grandchildren, Michael Govanello of Michigan and Emily Gordon of New Philadelphia and two of her dear friends, Helen and Ed Sarna of New Philadelphia.
In keeping with Donna's wishes, services will be private and interment will take place along side her husband in Zoar Cemetery.
