Beatrice M. Byers, age 86, of Barnhill, died Thursday, March 04, 2010, in New Dawn Retirement Center at Dover following a period of declining health.


A daughter of the late H. Floyd and Abbie (Snead) Huntley, Beatrice was born at Staunton, Virginia on February 26, 1924.


A graduate of Beverly Manor High School at Virginia, Beatrice would later marry Charles E. Byers, Sr. together the couple would rear two sons.


For a number of years Beatrice worked as a Press Operator at the former Puritan Laundry Company of New Philadelphia. Additionally, Beatrice held a life membership with the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.


In her younger years, Beatrice enjoyed playing cards and keeping busy with projects. Most of all, she had a lively spirit, loved caring for others and would help anyone in need.


She will be missed by her two sons, Charles E. Byers, Jr. of Uhrichsville and Harvey (Vickie) Byers of Barnhill; a sister, Ferraba Collier, a brother, Russell (Pat) Huntley and a brother-in-law, Kennan Grant all of Virginia.


Five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews complete the family.


In addition to her parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; two sisters, Katherine Grant and Dorothy Stone and two brothers, Arthur Huntley and James Huntley.


The family will receive friends on Friday, March 5, 2010, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. Pastor Harry Milligan will lead a funeral service celebrating Beatrice's life in the funeral home's Chapel on Saturday, March 6, 2010, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
